ArmInfo. The 20th meeting of the Council of Justice Ministers of the CIS member states will be held in Yerevan on November 10, with 11.1 million drams allocated for its organization. The decision to this effect was made at a government meeting on November 5.
The rationale for the draft decision notes that close and mutually beneficial cooperation has been established and maintained between the RA Ministry of Justice and the competent justice authorities of the CIS member states for many years, aimed at exchanging experience in the justice sector, deepening professional dialogue, and developing cooperation in areas of mutual interest. One of the most important platforms for cooperation is the Council of Justice Ministers of the CIS member states, whose activities are aimed at discussing priorities for cooperation between member states in the justice sector, identifying joint initiatives and events, and exchanging positions and experiences on current legal and institutional issues. During its meetings, the Council discusses current issues related to the digitalization of the justice sector in CIS member states, human rights protection, anti-corruption policy, mutual legal assistance, and other areas. The Council was established by a decision of the heads of state of the CIS member states on August 26, 2005. The 19th session of the Council was held on June 25, 2025, in Minsk, and, following its deliberations, the presidency of the Council for 2026 was transferred to the Republic of Armenia. Therefore, the 20th session of the Council is scheduled to be held on November 10, 2026, in Yerevan.
The assumption of the presidency of the Council by the Republic of Armenia entails not only the ongoing coordination of the Council's work but also the need to organize the next Council session in accordance with internationally recognized practices and standards, as well as to adequately fulfill the protocol and organizational obligations imposed on the host country. The Council session will include the participation of the Ministers of Justice of the Council member states, heads of the CIS member states' basic organizations in the field of advocacy and notarial activities, and other officials. Professional discussions, bilateral and multilateral meetings, and a reception will be held.
The event will provide an opportunity to strengthen the existing cooperation in the field of justice between the Republic of Armenia and the CIS member states, expand professional ties, promote opportunities for further cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and properly fulfill the high responsibility of the Republic of Armenia's chairmanship of the Council.
