ArmInfo. An Armenian version of the drama "Closer" (2004, USA) directed by Mike Nichols and starring Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Jude Law, and Clive Owen will be filmed in Yerevan.
Nichols' film was based on the play of the same name by British playwright Patrick Marber. In 1998, this work won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play, as well as the Evening Standard and Critics' Circle awards. It also won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Play.
In Armenia, director Narek Nersisyan, who is better known to the public as an actor, will direct this film. Although he has directed several short films in his career, this project will be his feature film debut. The film will be released in Armenia in April 2027 under the title "Touch," and will then be shown in the US, Europe, and Russia.
Although the film is based on a British play, the script, as the director explained during a meeting with journalists, was adapted to Armenian reality. Anahit Agazaryan adapted the text, and the film stars Diana Malenko, Luiza Nersisyan, Sos Janibekyan, and Levon Hakhverdyan. Narek Nersisyan also served as the film's producer, Sasun Melikyan as co-director, Felix Shakhtoyan as cinematographer, Armine Brsoyan as creative producer and PR manager, and Arvin Kocharyan as poster designer.
