ArmInfo. Armenian citizens who have not completed mandatory military service or have received a deferment from service will be eligible to work as police officers or rescuers. The RA government approved a package of legislative initiatives at its meeting on October 29.
The bill's rationale states that citizens will be required to obtain a state-funded secondary vocational education at an educational institution run by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after which they will be eligible to work as police officers or rescuers. This category of citizens will also be required to serve 10 years continuously within the Ministry of Internal Affairs before being exempted from military service.
The government has deemed the package urgent, meaning it will be considered in parliament on an expedited basis.
