ArmInfo. The “Country for Life” (“Aprelu Yerkir”) party overcame the electoral threshold in all communities where it participated in elections to local self-government bodies (LSGBs) and will be represented in councils of elders. This was reported by one of the political force’s founders, Mane Tandilyan.
“In the local elections on October 25, the ‘Aprelu Yerkir’ party achieved the following results in 6 settlements:
Meghri - 18.82%; Dilijan - 16.24%; Artik - 8.84%; Jermuk - 7.20%; Goris - 6.41% (the ‘Aprelu Kve’ bloc), Martuni - 4.81%. In all of the aforementioned settlements, the party overcame the electoral threshold and will be represented in councils of elders. In most of the settlements, the ‘Aprelu Yerkir’ party significantly surpassed the results recorded in the previous elections,” Tandilyan noted.
At the same time, the representative of the political force pointed out that although the voting process itself was not marked by large-scale violations, the repression of members of the “Country for Life” team and other opposition candidates, unlawful arrests, and the widespread use of administrative resources, including pressure on voters, created extremely unequal conditions for the forces participating in the elections.
“Thus, the ‘Country for Life’ party notes that the results of the elections to local self-government bodies do not reflect the actual political preferences of citizens at all, and these elections are another step backward from the principles of democracy. The ‘Country for Life’ party expresses its gratitude to the thousands of citizens who took part in the voting and assures them that we are continuing the struggle to build a strong and democratic state,” Tandilyan wrote in a Facebook post.
