ArmInfo. Ivana Zivkovic, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Deputy Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, will visit Armenia.
The visit will take place from October 26 to 31. Zivkovic will participate in high-level events at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, catalyzing biodiversity finance, and translating global commitments into concrete actions at the national and local levels.
These discussions will focus on the need to translate commitments into results, mobilizing public and private finance for biodiversity conservation, integrating environmental priorities into economic plans and development strategies, and ensuring that initiatives are implemented in a locally contextualized and people-centred manner.
Zivkovic's visit will also reaffirm the strategic partnership between the Government of Armenia, development partners, and UNDP, and will provide an opportunity to take stock of UNDP's impact on the ground.
Following the COP17 events, Zivkovic will visit Syunik Province, where he will learn about a number of initiatives supported by UNDP and partners.
