ArmInfo. It is a fact that new elections will be held in Armenia next year, as the current Parliament is illegitimate. Opposition MP Garnik Danielyan, a member of parliament from the Armenia faction, expressed this opinion in a conversation with journalists, commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement today that early parliamentary elections cannot be ruled out for the adoption of a new Constitution.
The MP emphasized that the Azerbaijani president has set a deadline for Nikol Pashinyan to adopt the new Constitution. "He didn't receive a constitutional majority, but he desperately needs Aliyev's new Constitution wrapped around the people's necks," Danielyan noted.
He believes Nikol Pashinyan will go so far in Parliament as to use blackmail or other means, including incentives, to lure opposition MPs to his side. "But I don't think he'll succeed. And even if he does, our citizens will say a resounding 'no,'" Danielyan assured.
It's worth noting that today, during a briefing, Nikol Pashinyan stated that if we fail to convince our opposition colleagues that the adoption of a new Constitution is an important and fundamental issue that ensures the longevity of the state, then early parliamentary elections may be held. "Who said this scenario is out of the question?" the prime minister asked.
