ArmInfo. Armenia will expand the range of beneficiaries receiving compensation for harm to life and health caused while defending the homeland. This decision was made at a government meeting on October 22.
While previously compensation was provided to military personnel with disabilities and the families of fallen service members only for cases occurring after 2017 and between 2008 and 2016, the Ministry of Labor and Welfare proposed extending the compensation mechanism to cases occurring between 1998 and 2007. According to preliminary data, there are 389 beneficiaries.
As noted by department head Arsen Torosyan, the documents available in the military personnel's personal files will be used as a basis. If these are missing, the issue will be resolved either through court proceedings or based on the conclusion of an interdepartmental commission.
