ArmInfo. The Strong Armenia faction has initiated amendments to the law "On Medicines," providing for simplified registration of European drugs and a 20% reduction in their prices. This was announced by Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the Strong Armenia faction, in a video published on his Facebook page.
He recalled that it is difficult to find affordable, high-quality medications in Armenia. According to him, because of this, citizens are often forced to ask relatives and friends visiting Armenia from abroad to bring them the necessary medications. He also noted that approximately 3,900 medications are currently registered in the country, while in Georgia their number is approximately three times greater, and in European countries it reaches 25,000.
"Even during the election campaign, the Strong Armenia bloc presented five economic goals aimed at ensuring the well-being of citizens. One of the initiatives was the "Affordable Medicines for All" program, which provides for a reduction in drug prices by at least 20%. The Strong Armenia faction is consistently delivering on its campaign promises. As the parliamentary opposition, the faction introduced a bill to revise the Law on Medicines, which provides for a simplified procedure for registering European drugs in Armenia," Abrahamyan said. The parliamentary faction secretary explained that the initiative is aimed at providing citizens with high-quality, affordable medications that meet European standards. He said the bill is currently under review. "The political force intends to discuss it with representatives of other parliamentary factions in the near future." We hope that, following the relevant discussions, we will be able to achieve the adoption of the bill and take another important step towards improving the quality of life of Armenian citizens," Abrahamyan concluded.
