ArmInfo. Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan held a meeting with the leadership of the Military Police.
During the meeting, the minister outlined existing problems and gave corresponding instructions regarding enforcement discipline, targeted work to strengthen discipline in military units, and improving the level of interaction with their command.
The Chief of the Military Police, Major General Aram Hovhannisyan, reported on the operational situation and the work currently being carried out.
It should be noted that the death of another soldier in the country's armed forces was reported days earlier. The Ministry of Defense reported that on October 10, the body of soldier A.G., from military unit No. 1, was found with a gunshot wound. His family has been notified in accordance with established procedures.
According to human rights organizations and independent sources, by the end of August 2026, between 31 and 35 non-combat deaths of service members had been recorded in the Armenian Armed Forces. Official statistics from the Armenian Ministry of Defense give a different figure: as of mid-August 2026, the ministry officially confirmed 11 deaths (including five among conscripts). However, human rights activists and opposition MPs insist that the official data does not reflect the true scale of the problem and includes only a portion of the incidents.
