ArmInfo. Armenia has recorded significant progress in a number of areas within the framework of the Armenia-EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan. This was stated in a statement by the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is reported that the second EU assessment mission on the implementation of the Action Plan is in Armenia.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan noted that, under the coordination of the chief negotiator for the Armenia-EU visa liberalization process, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to advance the implementation of the Action Plan in close cooperation with all relevant government agencies.
Members of the EU assessment mission met with the senior staff of the Migration and Citizenship Service.
It is worth noting that recently, in an interview, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the country will be able to achieve visa liberalization with the EU by 2029.
As a reminder, on November 5, 2025, the European Commission submitted to Yerevan the Visa Liberalization Action Plan (VLAP), consisting of 74 points in four blocks (biometric documents, border management, and migration, public order and crime control, human rights). On 5 May 2026, the European Commission published the first progress report on the implementation of the Action Plan. Since October 2026, the second EU assessment mission has been operating in Armenia. The next official report is expected in the second quarter of 2027.
