ArmInfo. The "Strong Armenia" bloc welcomes the resolution adopted by the European Parliament, which demands the release of Armenian political prisoners and prisoners of war held in Baku.
"Recently, the delegation of the "Strong Armenia" bloc held key meetings with EU representatives in Strasbourg. The issue of the immediate release of Armenian political prisoners and prisoners of war was also at the top of our agenda. We reaffirmed and were convinced of the European Union's readiness to provide active support to Armenia. It is clear that this resolution of the European Parliament was adopted not thanks to the policies pursued by the Armenian authorities and their efforts, but in spite of them," the political party said in a statement received by ArmInfo.
"Strong Armenia" They also noted that while the European Parliament condemned Aliyev's aggressive policy towards Armenia and demanded the release of Armenian prisoners of war and political prisoners, while adopting this resolution, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan joked and laughed with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"It can no longer be denied that Pashinyan is Aliyev's henchman and will never dare stand up to his master and defend Armenia's interests. This resolution of the European Parliament once again proves that Armenia can achieve a dignified peace without concessions. To achieve this, we must be strong and courageous in defending our country's interests, not succumbing to Aliyev's pressure. 'A strong Armenia' will establish peace without concessions," the political party concluded.
On October 8, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on political prisoners in Azerbaijan, co-sponsored by French MEP Marina Mezher. One of the resolution's clauses refers to Armenians held in Azerbaijan. The resolution demands their immediate release.
