
ArmInfo. During a meeting with the Iranian delegation, Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MESC) Zhanna Andreasyan signed a memorandum of understanding with Iranian Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Ahmad Donyamali.
According to the press service of the MESCS, the parties noted that the signing of the memorandum is an important step in strengthening the legal and institutional framework of bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Andreasyan and Donyamali discussed deepening bilateral relations in sports and youth policy. The head of the MESCS noted that the agreements reached during her visit to Iran in 2025 are gradually being implemented. She emphasized that the high level of political dialogue between the countries creates a favorable foundation for expanding cooperation, and the signing of the memorandum will help systematize joint initiatives.
Donyamali, in turn, noted that the Iranian side attaches great importance to multifaceted cooperation with Armenia and shared Iran's experience and achievements in sports. During the meeting, the head of Armenia's Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the Iranian Minister of Sport and Youth also emphasized the significant potential for cooperation in sports such as football, boxing, weightlifting, and wrestling. In this regard, the parties noted the importance of forming club teams, organizing joint training camps, retraining coaches, and holding reciprocal sporting events.
In this vein, Andreasyan also spoke about upcoming international tournaments in Armenia, including the European U21 Karate Championships and the World Weightlifting Championships. According to the source, special attention was given to the exchange of experience in the field of chess, including visits by specialists and joint educational initiatives, given the Iranian side's interest in Armenia's experience teaching chess in schools.
Furthermore, the parties emphasized the importance of cooperation in the youth sphere, in particular the need to establish dialogue between public organizations of the two countries, as well as interaction and exchange of experience between young scientists and researchers.
