ArmInfo. Anastas Israelyan, Chairman of the "Resurgent Artsakh" public organization, launched a sit-in in front of the National Assembly of Armenia, demanding a resolution to the problems of Artsakh refugees.
In a conversation with journalists, he recalled that on September 17, they held a protest demanding meetings with representatives of all parliamentary factions and the organization of parliamentary hearings. According to Israelyan, representatives of all three factions acknowledged the problems and agreed to organize them. "We were only asked to submit a written appeal and formulate questions. We were promised that hearings would be organized after they were studied. We sent a letter, but we still have not received a response," the organization's chairman said.
According to him, the only concrete response came from Anna Grigoryan, leader of the "Armenia" faction. "She stated that the faction is ready to discuss the issues raised and participate in the relevant hearings. Grigoryan also clarified that they are ready to participate after the consent of the other parliamentary factions is received," Israelyan noted.
He also reported that a meeting had taken place with Civil Contract faction MP Nazeli Baghdasaryan, but did not specify what issues were discussed during that meeting. Regarding the Strong Armenia faction, Israelyan noted that only a representative of the political force had met with him. However, according to him, the requirement is to hold meetings with those representatives of the factions with whom the agreement to hold the hearings was initially reached.
Regarding the hearings held on October 8 at the initiative of the Strong Armenia faction Speaking about the hearings on the issue of persons missing following the military aggression in Artsakh on September 19-20, 2023, Israelyan emphasized that different approaches are at issue. He said such hearings should be held with the participation of representatives of all parliamentary factions, especially the ruling party. "We call on all parties to attend such hearings, as these problems have been unresolved for three years and have only worsened. Three weeks have passed since the proposal to organize hearings was sent to the factions. We will not deviate from our agenda and demand concrete solutions to the issues we raised. Until today, we have listened to everyone." "Now it's time for us to be heard and for our problems to be resolved," Israelyan stated.
He noted that he intends to continue the sit-in until the remaining parliamentary factions provide a concrete response.
It should be noted that on October 8, members of the Armenian parliament from the Strong Armenia faction, led by faction leader Narek Karapetyan, met with the parents of missing servicemen. The parents presented their concerns. The faction subsequently assured that such meetings would be systematic and that the issues raised would be under their direct attention.
