
ArmInfo. A meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers was held in Turkmenistan. The event was chaired by the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. Armenia was represented at the event by Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan.
According to the CIS Executive Committee's press service, the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers meeting on October 7 adopted a Joint Statement "On Supporting Practical Steps to Prevent an Arms Race in Outer Space" and decisions to establish two new core organizations in the area of border cooperation. The Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation in Physical Culture and Sports and the regulations for three new base organizations, as well as the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation, were approved.
The CIS Foreign Ministers signed the Plan for Multilevel Inter-Ministerial Consultations for 2027 and approved the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation in Tourism.
In a narrow format, the heads of the foreign policy agencies exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda and interaction within the Commonwealth.
The broad format began with a discussion of the International Film Festival of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States "Commonwealth".
The CIS Foreign Ministers approved the draft Regulations for the film festival. The final decision on this matter will be made at the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in December 2026.
The members of the Council of Foreign Ministers also adopted a draft Action Plan for 2027-2028 to implement the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Tourism for 2021-2030. The document consists of seven sections. It includes measures to improve legal regulation, statistical accounting, quality standards for tourism services, and the development of a security system for tourists and tourism enterprises.
The drafts of the Second Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons to Further Serving Their Sentences, amendments to the Regulation on the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General, the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministries of Defense in the Field of Monitoring Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Situations, the draft Program for the Implementation of the Concept for the Formation of a Unified (Common) Educational Space of the CIS for the Period 2027-2035, and a number of other documents were approved.
The next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers is planned for April 2027 in Bishkek.
