ArmInfo. Conclusions on the incident in the Armenian village of Shaki will be based on the results of the official investigation, which is already underway. This was stated on October 7 during government hour in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia by RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, responding to a question from Taron Chakhoyan, a member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction.
According to the minister, only one thing is clear: the Azerbaijani who entered the village did not resist arrest. This already indicates that he was not a saboteur. Papikyan acknowledged that certain omissions and shortcomings on the part of law enforcement agencies occurred in this situation. According to the Minister of Defense, these shortcomings will have consequences, but final conclusions and full details can only be provided after the completion of the official investigation and investigative actions.
As a reminder, on October 1, 2026, in the village of Shaki, Sisian district, Syunik region, Azerbaijani serviceman Nasimi Musayev, who had illegally entered Armenia, entered a residential building, opened fire, and wounded local resident Ani Avetisyan in the leg in front of her children. (The victim and her children were injured, but Ani managed to resist and stab the attacker.) Musayev was detained by law enforcement and remanded in court for two months.
RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously stated that the investigation and trial of the criminal case would take place in Armenia.
