ArmInfo. Six assistants to National Assembly members from the opposition Strong Armenia faction have been banned from entering the parliament building. This follows from an order issued by RA National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, which was distributed by the NA press service.
"By order of RA National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, a disciplinary case has been initiated in connection with attempts by assistants to MPs from the Strong Armenia faction to enter the parliament session hall, as well as incitement to unrest on the premises of the National Assembly. As part of this case, six assistants to MPs from the Strong Armenia faction have been banned from entering the premises of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia," the parliament press service said in a statement.
As a reminder, the situation in the National Assembly escalated the day before. In particular, a member of parliament from the Strong Armenia bloc Edgar Ghazaryan stated in his speech that Ruben Rubinyan had embezzled public funds and called on his colleagues not to spend the 250,000 drams they had received as a bonus. However, midway through his speech, Rubinyan turned off Ghazaryan's microphone, noting that he was speaking outside the agenda. After this, the tension in the hall escalated. Galumyan approached Vardanov, opposition and ruling party deputies began pushing each other, and a fight broke out. Rubinyan announced a break and invited the State Security Service into the hall. NA Speaker Ruben Rubinyan and opposition Vice Speaker Aram Vardevanyan also descended on the scene of the brawl. For a long time, the two sides were unable to calm down. SCD officers began forcibly removing the deputies from the chamber.
Later, Armenian National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan stated that during the incident, opposition deputies' aides attempted to enter the parliamentary chamber, and this incident will be the subject of an investigation.
