ArmInfo. The Strong Armenia faction plans to increase the availability of high-quality European medicines for Armenian citizens through legislative changes. This was reported by parliamentary faction leader Narek Karapetyan on his Facebook page.
The politician said that today their political force will hold talks at the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare in Strasbourg to discuss the availability of European medicines in Armenia.
"Due to the existing restrictions, most high-quality European medicines are not sold in Armenian pharmacies. What is the problem? In Armenia, about 3,000 medicines are registered, while in European countries their number reaches 25,000. And most high-quality European medicines are not sold in our pharmacies because there are restrictions. Today we will discuss precisely this issue in order to come forward with a legislative initiative that will make it possible to reduce prices and improve the quality of healthcare, since we are talking about high-quality medicines," Narek Karapetyan said, promising to later report on the results of the meeting.
