ArmInfo. Only one Azerbaijani illegally crossed the Armenian state border. Reports that there were more individuals and that they were saboteurs are completely groundless.
This is how the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia responded to reports circulating by various sources that several Azerbaijanis had infiltrated Armenia. "Considering that false information is being disseminated on various social media, media outlets, and other public platforms regarding the incident that occurred on October 1 of this year in the village of Shaki in Armenia's Syunik region involving Azerbaijani serviceman N. Musayev, we consider it necessary to once again clarify that only one individual, N. Musayev, illegally crossed the Armenian state border. He is currently under arrest by a court decision as part of the criminal proceedings initiated." "All other reports that there were more people involved, that they were saboteurs, and that law enforcement agencies are still conducting a search are completely groundless and untrue," the agency's press service stated.
In connection with the above, the NSS called on the public to follow official reports.
As a reminder, it was reported that Azerbaijani serviceman Nasimi Musayev entered the home of a resident of the village of Shake in the Syunik region and wounded her on the afternoon of October 1. It later emerged that the woman's two minor children, who were helping their mother defend herself from the attack, were also injured. A statement from the Armenian NSS revealed that Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities had been searching for the serviceman in question since September 29, although no public outreach was conducted to ensure security, and residents of the region were kept in the dark. Furthermore, Azerbaijani media reported that the search for the Azerbaijani serviceman had been underway since September 26. His whereabouts during this period remain unknown. Later, Armenian Health Minister Ananit Avanesyan reported that the woman's condition was stable and that she was receiving the necessary medical care. Initially, competent Armenian authorities opened a criminal case on charges of illegal entry into a home, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, and causing grievous bodily harm committed with the use of a weapon. Only after public outrage did the Prosecutor General's Office also announce the opening of a criminal case on charges of illegally crossing the Armenian state border. The Investigative Committee of Armenia told ArmInfo that Musayev has been arrested for two months by a court decision.
Earlier at a press conference in Yerevan, Avetik Chalabyan, coordinator of the "Ayakve" movement, stated that the Azerbaijani who infiltrated Armenia could have actually been a saboteur. He also suggested that there may have been more than one.
