


ArmInfo. The newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Armenia, Thongkhoman Armstrong Changsan, presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
According to the press service of the Armenian President, during the meeting, the parties also discussed the bilateral cooperation agenda. In particular, they noted the importance of expanding interaction and fully realizing the countries' potential in defense, political, trade, economic, educational, and cultural spheres. In this context, the Indian Ambassador and the Armenian President noted the significance of the launch of direct air service between the two countries.
Khachaturyan also congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and wished him success in fulfilling his mission.
It is worth noting that relations between Armenia and India are experiencing an unprecedented strategic upswing. In recent years, bilateral ties have expanded far beyond traditional cultural and educational exchanges, transforming into a deep military-technical and geopolitical partnership. For Yerevan, New Delhi has become a key pillar in the diversification of its foreign policy and security. For India, Armenia represents an important geopolitical hub in the South Caucasus. Total bilateral trade has demonstrated steady growth and exceeded $400 million. Imports from India amount to approximately $350 million in recent years. India's main imports to Armenia are pharmaceuticals, jewelry, textiles, industrial equipment, and chemicals. Exports from Armenia amount to approximately $34.6 million. Armenia supplies India with certain raw materials and precious metals and seeks to diversify its supplies with high-quality alcoholic beverages and high-tech solutions.
