


ArmInfo. RA Deputy Prosecutor General Edgar Arsenyan is participating in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice as part of the RA delegation.
According to the press service of the department, Edgar Arsenyan delivered a report presenting the Republic of Armenia's experience and approaches in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, with a particular emphasis on the importance of international cooperation and areas for its further development. The Deputy Prosecutor General touched upon the goals and specifics of the institution of confiscation of illegally acquired property in Armenia, the importance of mutual legal assistance and international cooperation in the context of identifying assets located abroad and obtaining information about them. Practical challenges, the experience of exchanging requests between Armenia and its foreign partners, and the work being carried out to improve the effectiveness of cooperation were also discussed.
On the same day, Edgar Arsenyan met with Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi, Attorney General of the United Arab Emirates. During the meeting, the specifics of the confiscation of illicit assets in the Republic of Armenia were presented. The process of reviewing requests submitted by the Republic to the competent UAE authorities on individual cases within the framework of mutual legal assistance, issues of obtaining the necessary information about them, asset tracing, timely information exchange, and improving the efficiency of processing international requests were also discussed. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to strengthen practical cooperation and improve the effectiveness of future collaboration.
During the visit, the RA delegation also held bilateral meetings with high-ranking representatives of the judicial systems of partner states, including delegations led by the Ministers of Justice of the UAE and the State of Qatar. Issues of mutual interest and prospects for developing cooperation were discussed.
