The newly elected FIDE President will make his first official visit to Armenia

ArmInfo. The newly elected President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), Timur Turlov, will make his first official visit to Armenia. This was announced by the Armenian Chess Federation.

According to a source, the European continental stage of the 2026 World Schools Team Championship will begin in Tsaghkadzor on September 29. FIDE President and President of the International Schools Chess Federation, Timur Turlov, will also speak at the opening ceremony.

On September 29, he will also meet with the entire staff of the Chess Research Institute. at the Armenian State Pedagogical University, where important issues related to the development of chess, educational programs, and international cooperation will be discussed.

Timur Ruslanovich Turlov is a Kazakhstani entrepreneur, financier, and philanthropist, and the principal owner of Freedom Holding Corp. He has been FIDE President since September 26, 2026.
