"Based on a video that circulated on social media and caused a public outcry, which showed an employee of a fruit and vegetable store on 33/4 Saryan Street spraying a dichlorvos-type insecticide on fruit for sale, the Food Safety Inspectorate conducted an inspection and took samples." "According to the laboratory test report, residual traces of an insecticidal substance were detected in the fruit samples," the supervisory authority reported.

In this regard, it is noted that the Inspectorate will conduct large-scale inspections at fruit and vegetable retail locations to ensure compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards. "Samples of fruits and vegetables will also be collected for laboratory testing. This will determine whether similar instances of insecticide use are recurring at other retail locations. We urge citizens to immediately report any such violations to the Food Safety Inspectorate's hotline at 118," the agency concluded.
