De facto peace has been reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia, according to Bayramov

ArmInfo. De facto peace has been achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Azerbaijani media reported that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated this while speaking at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

He emphasized that following the Washington summit, the peace agenda has already begun to yield concrete economic results. In particular, Bayramov pointed to the unilateral lifting of transit restrictions and the commencement of bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Armenia in certain areas.

The diplomat also emphasized the importance of removing the remaining obstacles to signing a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. As a reminder, Armenia began importing petroleum products (AI-95 gasoline) from Azerbaijan in late 2025. According to the RA Customs Service, in the first half of 2026, Armenia imported 14,400 tons of petroleum products from Azerbaijan with a customs value of $14.9 million.

 

Days earlier, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan reported that Armenia exported aluminum foil to Azerbaijan. The minister promised to report the tonnage and value later.
