Lawyer: Armenian court acquits blogger Avetisyan, who called Pashinyan a traitor

ArmInfo. The Yerevan Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction acquitted blogger Artak Avetisyan, who called Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan a traitor. Lawyer Ruben Melikyan announced this on his Facebook page.

He recalled that Avetisyan was arrested during the pre-election period under a law punishable by law for inciting hatred and was subsequently charged with aggravated hooliganism. "The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction for Criminal Cases, presided over by Judge Mushegh Aramyan, acquitted Artak Avetisyan. During the pre-election period, he was arrested for a month under a law punishable by law for inciting hatred (based on political views), and was subsequently charged with aggravated hooliganism," the lawyer wrote.

As a reminder, the blogger was detained on May 12 after criticizing Pashinyan's policies and calling him a traitor. The investigation charged Avetisyan with public statements aimed at inciting or spreading hatred, discrimination, intolerance, or hostility, as well as disseminating materials or objects for this purpose using publicly displayed works, media, or information and communications technologies. It is noteworthy that the same blogger had previously published footage of discarded humanitarian aid, apparently sent to the Armenian army during the 44-day war in 2020 around Artsakh.
