The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia has departed on a working visit to Germany, where he will be presented with the Hessian Peace Prize

ArmInfo.  Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan departed on a working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany on September 18.

As reported by the government press service, during the visit, the RA prime minister will be presented with the Hessian Peace Prize for his efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus at a ceremonial event at the federal parliament of Hesse in Wiesbaden.

Then Nikol Pashinyan will meet with local businessmen at the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The prize recognizes the continuous efforts of the 51-year-old politician to build democratic institutions in the country and bring it closer to the European Union. As one of the leaders of the 2018 Velvet Revolution, he paved the way for parliamentary elections and since then, as prime minister, has been leading the country toward peace and integration into Europe. At the same time, with the support of the United States, he managed to adopt a joint declaration on peace with the president of neighboring Azerbaijan in August 2025, as well as sign the agreement "On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan".

The €25,000 prize has been awarded by the Albert Osswald Foundation since 1994. The purpose of the prize is to recognize efforts to end wars, violence or conflicts associated with the threat of violence, preventive measures, the development of strategies to prevent violent conflicts, and contributions to mutual understanding between peoples.  The prize was established by former Hesse Prime Minister Albert Osswald (Social­Democratic Party of Germany, SPD) and his family. The board of trustees includes representatives of leading German scientific­research institutes engaged in the study of peace, who advise on the awarding of the peace prize.
