A Red Data Book peregrine falcon was rescued in Armenia

Arminfo.  Employees of Armenia’s Environmental Protection and Subsoil Inspection Body rescued a peregrine falcon listed on the International Red List and in Armenia’s Red Data Book.

According to a report received by Arminfo from the agency, on September 16 at around 11:00 local time, the inspection body received a call about a bird of prey found helpless in the yard of a house by a resident of the village of Malishka, part of the enlarged Yeghegnadzor community in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor Province.

As a result of the actions taken by inspectors at the scene, it was established that the exhausted bird was a peregrine falcon (Latin: Falco peregrinus), a species of bird of prey from the falcon family, listed in the Red Data Book of the Republic of Armenia and the International Red List of Animals as a rare and vulnerable species.

"On the same day, at around 16:15, the peregrine falcon was taken to the rehabilitation center of the NGO "Yerevan Zoo" to receive the necessary care and rehabilitation. The bird was ringed, and its data will be identified. At present, the peregrine falcon’s health is assessed as satisfactory, and the bird of prey is under the supervision of specialists," the inspection body reported.
