Another land plot in Vanadzor returned to community ownership

Arminfo. As a result of the prosecutor’s intervention, the 15th land plot located in Grant Matevosyan Park in Vanadzor has been returned to community ownership. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the source, based on a letter from the governor of Lori Province, the Lori Regional Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation, within its powers to initiate proceedings in defense of state (community) interests, into documents concerning the allocation of land plots in Grant Matevosyan Park in the city of  Vanadzor to various persons.  The investigation revealed that land plots in Grant Matevosyan Park had been provided to 22 individuals and legal entities under 25 agreements concluded in the early 2000s, with the right to lease, build, or use them free of charge. The investigation showed that the 22 organizations leasing and actually possessing areas of Grant Matevosyan Park in Vanadzor were using them in violation of the agreements and for purposes other than those intended. As a result, the park fell into disrepair.

It should be recalled that during her working visit to Lori Province on August 19, 2026, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan also visited Grant Matevosyan Park and issued a number of instructions to the regional prosecutor. Following the investigation, a request was submitted to the acting head of the Vanadzor community to terminate the lease and free-of-charge use agreements.

As a result of the appeal, on September 15, 2026, the lease rights of individuals to another land plot located in the park area at the address: 25/1M-1 K. Demirchyan St., with an area of 526 square meters and a cadastral value of 5 million 530 thousand drams, approximately corresponding to its market value, were terminated. The land was returned to the possession of the Vanadzor community.

To date, as a result of the prosecutor’s intervention, the Vanadzor community has terminated 20 agreements for the lease and free-of-charge use of land plots with a total area of 12,935.3 square meters, 15 of which have received cadastral registration for an area of 4,618.45 square meters. Work is underway to settle the remaining agreements.
