The court hearing in the case of Narek Karapetyan and Aleksan Aleksanyan did not take place

ArmInfo.  The first hearing in the criminal case involving RA National Assembly Member Narek Karapetyan and Alexan Alexanyan, head of the executive body of the “Strong Armenia” party, was scheduled to take place at Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court on September 15, but the hearing was postponed.

A few minutes before the hearing, the prosecutor reported that he would be absent due to a heavy workload.

It should be noted that a motion to lift Alexan Alexanyan’s arrest was also scheduled to be discussed today.

It should be noted that Alexan Alexanyan has been under arrest since June 3, 2026, while a travel ban and bail set at 1 billion drams have been applied as a preventive measure against Narek Karapetyan.  According to the investigation, the defendants created a criminal organization to exert unlawful influence on the course of the elections. The investigation claims that, under the guise of donations and loans from the “Tashir” Foundation, large sums of money—millions of dollars—were transferred through a non-governmental organization and used to provide material incentives (bribes) to citizens and organize their participation in the pre-election rallies of the “Strong Armenia” party.  Both defendants reject the charges brought against them, considering them politically motivated.
