Arminfo. At a plenary session on September 15, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted, in the second and final reading, amendments to the law “On the Structure and Activities of the Government.”
Earlier, presenting the amendments, RA Minister of Justice Srbuhi Ghalyan noted that the purpose of the draft regulation is to improve the legal wording of the oath taken by members of the Cabinet. With the proposed amendment, the text of the oath will more clearly reflect values aimed at strengthening statehood, protecting public and state interests, as well as the development and longevity of the Republic of Armenia. The draft proposes setting out Part 2 of Article 4 of the March 23, 2018 law “On the Structure and Activities of the Government” in a new wording. Under the proposed wording, members of the government taking office will take the following oath: “For the sake of the longevity, sovereignty and development of the Republic of Armenia, I swear to conscientiously perform my duties as a member of the government, comply with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, serve the public interest, protect state interests, contribute to the strengthening of statehood and the constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia, and act for the benefit of present and future generations.”
As a result of the adoption of the draft, it is expected that the oath taken by members of the government will more fully reflect the scope of responsibility associated with taking office and the fundamental values underlying state authority. The draft stipulates that the law will enter into force on the day following its official publication.
