
ArmInfo. The preliminary investigation into the criminal case concerning the embezzlement of property of particularly large value entrusted to the former head of the Sevan community has been completed. This is stated in a report by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the source, the preliminary investigation into the criminal case initiated against former Sevan community head R.G. (Rudik Ghukasyan – ed.) on charges of embezzling property of particularly large value entrusted to him has been completed at the Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. During the preliminary investigation, factual data were obtained showing that R.G., who served as head of the Sevan community from November 5, 2012, to November 3, 2016, with the assistance of several members of the council of elders of the same community, as well as two persons with whom he had close relations, and using his official powers, on August 26, 2015, sold real estate belonging to the Sevan community and designated for public use, valued at the time at 18 million 940 thousand drams, to the mother of one of the council members for 5 million 200 thousand drams, a price significantly below its market value. As a result of these actions, the Sevan community suffered particularly large property damage amounting to 13 million 740 thousand drams.
During the preliminary investigation, criminal charges were brought against former Sevan community head R.G. for embezzlement of property entrusted to him on a particularly large scale; against 11 persons for aiding and abetting the embezzlement of property entrusted to him on a particularly large scale; and against one more person for aiding and abetting the embezzlement of property entrusted to him on a particularly large scale and for document forgery.
The criminal case has been submitted to the supervisory body together with the indictment.
