She noted that several days ago, Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev, together with a group of foreign diplomats, was in Artsakh, which had been subjected to ethnic cleansing, where Armenian cultural heritage was presented as Albanian. In this regard, the opposition parliamentarian asked the NA speaker about his position on the matter. “Are you going to voice the position that Gandzasar is Armenian? Thousands of young men did not die so that today you would be unable to say a single word about Gandzasar being Armenian,” Anna Grigoryan stated.
In response, RA National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan avoided directly answering the question. He merely remarked that the peace achieved requires constant care. According to the parliamentary speaker, it is very important to show sensitivity to various issues. “The statements you mentioned do not benefit peace; they are unfounded,” Rubinyan said, adding that Armenia is currently in a state of peace.
On September 12, Hajiyev brought a group of diplomats accredited in Azerbaijan to the famous Armenian Gandzasar Church, located in the Martakert region of the Azerbaijan-occupied Republic of Artsakh, and there, without any grounds or facts, stated that the church is an “integral part of ancient Albanian Christian heritage.”
