The general who pioneered the formation of the Armenian Armed Forces has renounced his Armenian citizenship

ArmInfo. Lieutenant General Norat Ter-Grigoryants, who stood at the origins of the formation of the Armenian Armed Forces, renounced Armenian citizenship. The high-ranking officer himself reported this in an interview with the Iravunk newspaper.

"I went to the consulate and returned my RA passport. They asked me in surprise: "Mr. Ter-Grigoryants, what are you doing?" And I answered: "What should I do when people came to power in Armenia who betrayed the handful of remaining Armenian people and want to destroy it through the Turks?" I handed over my passport, and then received a message from the administration of your current president: "You have been stripped of citizenship." Well, goodbye, my dears. I will never come to Armenia again. "And that's it," said Ter-Grigoryants, who now lives in Russia.

It's worth noting that at the end of 1991, the President of Armenia invited Ter-Grigoryants to help build the Republic's Armed Forces. Responding to the invitation, he developed a concept for building the RA Armed Forces and, together with his fellow servicemen, began creating the Armenian Armed Forces. On August 10, 1992, by decree of the President of Armenia, he was appointed Commander of the Armenian Armed Forces, and subsequently Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and First Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia. In 1993, he served as Acting Minister of Defense of Armenia. After four years of military service in Armenia, the lieutenant general returned to Moscow in 1995. There, he worked at the CIS headquarters in the CSTO region in the interests of the RA Armed Forces. Ter-Grigoryants is a veteran of the Afghan War.
