Pashinyan congratulated Tokayev on the successful conduct of the elections

ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to the government press service, Pashinyan congratulated Tokayev on the successful conduct of the Kurultai elections. He noted that the convincing voting results confirm the broad support of Kazakhstani citizens for the reforms implemented by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The President of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude for the congratulations and warm wishes, emphasizing the importance of developing multi-sectoral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Armenia.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the potential for cooperation in implementing regional transport programs.

The Armenian Prime Minister and the President of Kazakhstan agreed to continue the discussion at an appropriate time, in particular, during the Kazakh President's visit to Armenia in October.

It should be noted that, according to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, the Adilet (Justice) Party won the elections to the new unicameral parliament of Kazakhstan with 71.17% of the vote. Prior to the constitutional changes, Kazakhstan had two legislative chambers – the Majilis (lower) and the Senate (upper). The Auyl (Village) party came in second with 6.26%, followed by the Respublica party with 5.56%, Ak Zhol with 5.21%, and the National Social Democratic Party (NSDP) with 5.11%. The remaining political forces failed to meet the 5% threshold required to enter the legislative body. A citizen of Kazakhstan aged 25 or older who has lived in the republic for at least the past ten years can become a deputy.
