"Mother Armenia": EU officials are waging hybrid war against Russia  at expense of Armenia`s interests

ArmInfo.The price of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's new hybrid adventure, which consists of arresting opposition figures in the country, will be much higher than the previous one, and the Turkish world will once again take advantage of it. This was stated by the Mother Armenia party,  according to a report received by ArmInfo, noting that the trial against the party's leader, Andranik Tevanyan, and party board  member, Aregnaz Manukyan, will soon begin.

"A trial will soon begin, based on Pashinyan's illegal order, on a  fabricated case against Mother Armenia Party Chairman Andranik  Tevanyan and party board member Aregnaz Manukyan. This trial will be  of historic and fateful significance, as it concerns not so much  Tevanyan and Manukyan as political prisoners, but rather issues of  the Republic's security, its territorial integrity, Armenian-Russian,  Armenian- Azerbaijani, and Armenian-Turkish relations, as well as the  hybrid war that EU officials are waging against Russia through  Pashinyan and at the expense of Armenia's interests," the party  stated.

The political force believes that this trial will be unprecedented in  its hybrid nature and will have a direct impact on Armenia and every  citizen of the Republic. In this regard, the party noted that,  judging by the political subtext of the case, Tevanyan is effectively  accused of: engaging in opposition activities and efforts aimed at  regime change, including facilitating the removal of the Civil  Contract party from power in Gyumri; supporting strategic and allied  Armenian-Russian relations; and, with the professional support of  Russian expert and political circles, carrying out actions against  Pashinyan's government, thereby undermining these relations.

"Furthermore, rejection of the current government's policies, which  serve the Turkish-Azerbaijani agenda; opposition to Armenia's  unilateral concessions in favor of Azerbaijan under the guise of  border demarcation and delimitation; opposition to the withdrawal of  the Russian military base from Armenia; the implementation of the  "Mother Armenia" humanitarian trip to Donbas at the invitation of the  Armenian community of Donbas; opposition to Armenia's transformation  into an arena of geopolitical confrontation and the transformation of  the Armenian people into bargaining chips. According to Pashinyan,  the aforementioned actions and position constitute espionage and  treason, while, in our opinion, the opposite actions and position  constitute treason," the political force noted.

The Mother Armenia party also believes that this trial will be  unprecedented in that its outcome will touch on issues of geopolitics  and military security. The political party explained that the problem  is that, through the "case" against Tevanyan, the current Armenian  government is effectively declaring Russia an enemy and Azerbaijan  and Turkey friendly states. "And this at a time when Russia is de  jure a strategic ally of our country, while Turkey and Azerbaijan,  through military action, have forcibly displaced the Armenian  population from Artsakh and are now demanding unilateral concessions  from Armenia," the party noted.

Therefore, as Mother Armenia noted, Pashinyan is engaging in yet  another gamble through this hybrid trial.  "Azerbaijan benefited from  his 2018 adventure (the so-called Velvet Revolution, which brought  Pashinyan to power - ed.): we lost Artsakh, and 120,000 Armenians  were subjected to ethnic cleansing. The price of Pashinyan's new  hybrid adventure will be much higher, and the Turkish world will once  again exploit it.  The trial will determine the direction Armenia  will take. Freedom for Andranik Tevanyan. Freedom for Aregnaz  Manukyan. Freedom for all political prisoners. Long live the Republic  of Armenia," the party concluded.

As a reminder, on May 21, the Investigative Committee of Armenia  announced the opening of a criminal case against Andranik Tevanyan  for "treason and espionage." Tevanyan is accused of transferring  information containing state secrets to a foreign state for $622,000.  On the night of May 24, Tevanyan was placed under two-month pretrial  detention by court order. Moreover, according to Tevanyan's lawyer,  Aram Orbelyan, there were no legal grounds for his client's detention  at the time. It should be added that the opposition figure's  detention occurred on the direct orders of current Armenian Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Tevanyan himself called the investigation's  allegations absurd, noting that he resigned his parliamentary mandate  in 2023 and, therefore, such allegations by the Investigative  Committee are baseless. On July 9, Aregnaz Manukyan, a member of the  Mother Armenia party's political council and former member of the  Armenian parliament, was arrested and subsequently placed under two  months' arrest. According to the Investigative Committee, a public  criminal prosecution has been instituted against Aregnaz Manukyan  under Part 1 of Article 427 of the Criminal Code (disclosure of  information containing a state secret). The investigation was  conducted as part of a criminal case involving espionage and treason,  in which Andranik Tevanyan, the leader of the Mother Armenia party,  was previously arrested. Manukyan is suspected of passing classified  information regarding the Armenian Armed Forces to Tevanyan, which  was presented at a closed parliamentary meeting.

On August 18, the investigation concluded, and the materials were  sent to court. However, both Tevanyan and Manukyan remain in pretrial  detention.
