Coordinator of Hayakve initiative is facing politically motivated and  unlawful prosecution - Chalabyan`s wife

ArmInfo.Avetik Chalabyan, coordinator of the Hayakve civic initiative, is facing politically motivated and unlawful prosecution, according to his  wife, Anahit Adamyan.

Speaking to journalists outside the Shengavit District Court in  Yerevan on August 21, 2026—where a hearing was underway to review  Chalabyan's pretrial detention—Adamyan asserted that the legal  proceedings against him lack any legitimate legal foundation.

"We have gathered here to show our solidarity with Avetik and to  demand his immediate release," Adamyan stated, noting that her  husband has been held in detention for two months. She claimed that  the country currently holds hundreds of political prisoners.

"There is no real professional or legal component to my husband's  case; everything is based on a political order from the authorities,"  Adamyan added, emphasizing that despite restrictions on visits and  phone calls, the initiative remains committed to its goals.
