Families of missing persons, with ICRC support, establish  pan-Armenian association

ArmInfo. Families of missing persons, with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), have established a pan-Armenian association  uniting families with relatives who went missing since the 1990s and following subsequent escalations, as reported by the press service of the ICRC Yerevan office.

"The primary mission and objective of the newly formed association is  to provide a unified platform to protect the rights and interests of  these families while actively assisting in clarifying the fate and  whereabouts of missing individuals," the ICRC stated.It should be added that, according to the latest data from the  International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as of August 2024,  approximately 1,000 individuals on the Armenian side remain  registered as missing. This total includes roughly 300 cases linked  to armed hostilities between the autumn of 2020 and 2023. These  records are compiled directly through applications and tracing  requests submitted by the families of the missing. Additionally, the  ICRC has noted that among the post-2020 cases are dozens of instances  where families have sought clarity or raised concerns regarding DNA  identification data provided by state authorities
