Pro-Western politician: Time to follow the path of the real Armenian  dream

ArmInfo. It is time to truly believe in our strength, change course, and follow the path, aspirations, and  road of the true Armenian dream. This is what Aram  Sargsyan, leader of the pro-Western Republic Party, writes in his article.  According to him, if one had to describe the current situation in Armenia in one word, it would be a "turning point."

"In 2018, the Armenian people simply replaced a fraudulent and  corrupt government with their own.  Otherwise, the broader public  mindset remained largely unchanged at the time. In 2021, the same  people rejected the return of the old authorities, yet geopolitical  hopes were still heavily pinned on  the Russian Federation and the  permanent presence of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh, that Artsakh  would remain Armenian, and that we and our brothers and sisters from  Artsakh could come and go. After 2023, the situation changed. We lost  Artsakh, and this was the greatest loss of the Third Republic,  because for many, including me, Artsakh was real: material, economic,  foreign policy, domestic policy, personal and many other very  tangible aspects. In a word, it was identity. We lost Artsakh because  we took Abkhazia, Ossetia, and then Crimea, Donbas and Luhansk as a  model, becoming hostile to the whole world, but hoping that Russia,  as in the other cases I've mentioned, will act the same way in our  case. We made a mistake, and we are to blame, because Russia not only  failed to preserve Artsakh, but also failed to recognize Armenia's  territorial integrity and its existing borders. These are simple  realities that the Armenian people know and don't deny, and even  teams completely within Russia's orbit (it's no coincidence that I  call them a team, not a party) have concluded this and are calling  for TRIPP to be called a road, not a corridor," the politician noted.

This, he noted, is naturally reminiscent of the Georgian Dream  party's behavior before and after the Georgian elections. And this is  no coincidence, as everyone witnessed the attempt to emulate  Ivanishvili's example in Armenia during the 2026 elections.

"Respect and honor for our wise people, who, unlike the majority of  the Georgian people, did not achieve success with their Armenian  Ivanishvili. But, nevertheless, they did not come to an agreement and  continue to fight, not recognizing the authorities of the Republic of  Armenia and intimidating them with new restrictions from Moscow. From  the recent visits of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia  and the behavior of the Civil Contract faction in the National  Assembly, I get the impression that, in order to avoid threats from  the Russian Federation, they are also trying to take the position of  the "Georgian Dream", and the competition in the National Assembly of  the Republic of Armenia is to become a leader in this area. I am  deeply convinced that our people are a wise people, that we are one  of the oldest and most cultured species in the world, that we were  not only the first to adopt Christianity, but also that democracy is  ours. In the Republic of Armenia in 1918-1920, women even had the  right to vote, while in a number of European countries women had not  yet been granted full suffrage. For example, in France, women  received the right to participate in "The Armenian people were not  allowed to hold national elections until 1944, in Italy in 1945, and  in Switzerland at the federal level only in 1971. And in the United  States, the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, passed in  1964-1965, were historic turning points in the fight against racial  discrimination and, in particular, in ensuring the right to vote. The  Voting Rights Act of 1965, in particular, prohibited racial  restrictions on voting rights and abolished a number of  discriminatory mechanisms, including literacy tests.

The Armenian people are creative, love to learn, hardworking,  inventive, supportive, and helpful to relatives and strangers in  need. We have a strong sense of self-worth and have always strived  for freedom," Aram Sargsyan writes.

He called on the government and the opposition not to be afraid, not  to intimidate themselves. "We are on a ship called Armenia. There is  no need to draw a contrast between the real and historical Armenia,  Ararat and Aragats, the Church and the Church. Who do you love more:  your grandfather or your mother? This contrast is meaningless,  especially now that both are gone, and yet I continue to love them  both equally. An Armenian is an individual, and that's a good thing.  But we share the same history and the same future, in which the  existence of the state of Armenia will be of paramount  importance historically, presently, and in the future. I know our  shortcomings; I've felt them many times, and I'm not perfect myself,  trying to make them felt. But I also know our strengths and am  convinced that we are capable, we can. There's no need to drag out  time, especially since it no longer needs to be dragged out. The time  has come to truly believe in our strength, to turn around, and to  follow the path, the aspirations, and the road of the true Armenian  dream. I know it's summer now, intrigues are being woven in  parliament, and readers will be few, but let it remain so. They will  definitely appear." - the politician emphasized.
