ArmInfo. Personnel changes are expected at the Armenian Ministry of Defense, as stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan while answering journalists' questions about the government's measures in response to the increasing number of non-combat deaths of servicemen.
It should be noted that today, the Ministry of Defense reported the death of a soldier, whose body was found with a gunshot wound. This brings the total number of deaths since the beginning of the year to 31, 11 of which are classified as military service-related, and 19 as unrelated. The circumstances of today's case are being investigated.
The Prime Minister reported that this morning, before the government meeting, discussions were held with the Minister of Defense, after which a decision was made to make personnel changes in the Military Police and the Department of Moral and Psychological Suppport. "We intend to conduct a detailed analysis of why efforts in this area are not producing the desired results," he said, noting that officials will be held personally accountable for the incident. At the same time, the head of government noted that he does not believe the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff are not making sufficient efforts to address this problem.
