Sargis Khandanyan sees no political obstacles to implementing TRIPP  project

ArmInfo."I see no political obstacles to the implementation of the TRIPP project," stated Sargis Khandanyan, a lawmaker from the "Civil Contract" party  and Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, when asked about the potential impact of Iran-US relations on the launch of TRIPP.

He noted that the issue had been discussed with Iranian partners and  mutual understanding has been achieved. "I do not think anyone should  worry that strained relations between Iran and the US will affect the  implementation of the project," the parliamentarian emphasized.

Khandanyan noted that Armenia is interested in the speedy  establishment of peace between Iran and the US, which the peace plan  approved months earlier inspires great hopes for. "We hope that it  will be implemented soon," the head of the Committee said. 

Discussing the TRIPP project itself, Khandanyan stated that it is  currently in the practical implementation phase. Territorial and  suitability studies are underway, to be followed by the construction  phase for both the railway and power transmission lines.

Additionally, Khandanyan mentioned that a Trans-Caspian Fund has been  established in the United States and a manager has been appointed,  with the fund's activities focused on financing the project.
