ArmInfo. "I will not allow anyone from the Civil Contract faction to insult anyone, but I will not allow you to insult others either," National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan told Strong Armenia faction leader Narek Karapetyan in the parliament hallway.
Earlier during the NA session, Taron Chakhoyan, a member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction, used the word "germamish" when addressing Samvel Karapetyan. Later, Narek Karapetyan, Samvel Karapetyan's nephew, demanded that the parliament speaker "tell the animal-deputies not to behave like animals, " which led to an escalation of tension in the National Assembly chamber. In response, Rubinyan noted that Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan had previously used the same expression toward representatives of the Civil Contract party, and Chakhoyan merely repeated it. "I wasn't in the hall at the time, but I specially returned and urged them not to use language that would escalate the situation," Rubinyan said.
Later, in the hallway, when Narek Karapetyan urged them to be attentive, Ruben Rubinyan responded, "I know how to be attentive." In response to journalists' questions, Narek Karapetyan said he had been insulted for several minutes, and then lost control.
