Lawyer: Complaint regarding the illegal detention of a member of the Mother Armenia political council has not yet been submitted to the judge

Two weeks have passed, but the complaint against the illegal imprisonment of Mother Armenia political council member Aregnaz Manukyan, which requires immediate review, has still not been assigned to any judge of the Court of Appeals. Attorney Tatevik Soghoyan reported this on her Facebook page.

According to the attorney, this is a consequence of Judge Manvel Shahverdyan's inadequate performance. "The reason is the 'brilliant' performance of Judge Manvel Shahverdyan, due to whom the case materials were not transferred to the Court of Appeals as prescribed by law." "The very same judge who deprived a 13-year-old girl of the right to communicate with her mother," Soghoyan pointed out.

In this regard, as the lawyer noted, they have already sent an official appeal to the court chairman demanding an explanation for this unjustified delay. "If necessary, we will also request disciplinary action against the judge," Soghoyan concluded.

As a reminder, according to the Investigative Committee, a public criminal prosecution has been initiated against Aregnaz Manukyan under Part 1 of Article 427 of the Criminal Code (disclosure of information containing state secrets). The investigative actions were carried out as part of a criminal case on espionage and treason, in which the leader of the Mother Armenia party, Andranik Tevanyan, was previously arrested. Manukyan is suspected of passing classified information regarding the Armenian Armed Forces to Tevanyan, which was presented at a closed meeting in parliament. By court order, Manukyan was placed under two months' arrest on July 9. The defense called the charges against Manukyan groundless.
