Kapan officially named CIS Youth Capital for 2026

ArmInfo.Kapan  hosted the official ceremony celebrating its designation as the CIS Youth Capital for 2026. 

According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, in  his welcoming address to the ceremony organizers and participants,  CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev noted that Kapan received the  honorary status of Youth Capital in the year of the 35th anniversary  of the formation of the CIS.

"This is a well-deserved recognition of the city's contribution to  the development of international youth cooperation. Kapan has  repeatedly served as a meeting place for young people from  Commonwealth countries. It has hosted meetings of the Youth Affairs  Council, and finalists of the '100 Ideas for the CIS' project have  presented their original work here. This year, the historic and  picturesque city of Kapan, surrounded by majestic mountains, has once  again become a focal point for active, talented, and ambitious  youth," Lebedev stated.

As reported, one of the central events of the program was the  cancellation ceremony for a special "Armenian Heritage" postage stamp  featuring a cityscape and Mount Khustup, the symbol of Kapan.

Recall,  Kapan was recognized as the Youth Capital by a decision of  the Council of CIS Heads of Government.
