ArmInfo.Aregnaz Manukyan, a board member of the "Mother Armenia" party, has been remanded in custody for two months by a decision of the Yerevan Court of First Instance. Her legal counsel has stated their intention to appeal the ruling.
According to the Investigative Committee, criminal proceedings have been initiated against Manukyan under Article 427, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which concerns the public disclosure of information classified as a state secret.
The investigation into Manukyan is part of a broader case involving espionage and high treason, for which the leader of the "Mother Armenia" party, Andranik Tevanian, was arrested earlier this year. Authorities allege that Manukyan leaked classified data regarding the Armenian Armed Forces to Tevanian, information that had been presented during a closed-door parliamentary session.
