
ArmInfo.An exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Armenian architect Jim Torossian has opened at the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture, under the Urban Development Committee of the Republic of Armenia. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
The event was attended by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Yeghiazar Vardanyan, as well as Jim Torossian's heirs and representatives of the urban development sector. In her opening remarks, Zaruhi Hayrapetyan, Director of the Museum-Institute, emphasized Jim Torossian's significant role in the history of 20th-century Armenian architecture, noting his exceptional talent, broad creative horizons, and rich architectural legacy. She said that this is the second anniversary exhibition of Jim Torossian's work organized at the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum- Institute of Architecture.
Exhibition curator and architect Karen Balyan presented the concept of the exhibition and the unique solutions employed, subsequently leading a tour for the distinguished guests and sharing the history behind the featured works. The exhibition showcases original, previously unexhibited projects from the collection of the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture, drawings of architectural monuments, urban panoramas from the family archive, and exclusive materials collected from private archives. Projects that have become iconic landmarks of Yerevan are on display, including the Cascade complex, the Republic Square metro station, the City Hall building, the main entrance to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and other structures created by Jim Torosyan. A series of video interviews with Jim Torosyan is also being screened.
The exhibition will be open until August 23.
