ArmInfo. Colonel Edik Maloyan, a veteran of the 44-Day War and recipient of the 1st Class "Combat Cross," has been detained for his desire to live in a strong Armenia. Narek Karapetyan, a member of the political council of the "Strong Armenia" bloc, shared this information on his Facebook page.
"The soldier who recaptured the positions of Abajyan and Urfanyan (Artsakh heroes who died during the 4- Day April War of 2016 - ed.), is Edik Maloyan. He is a recipient of the 1st Class "Combat Cross."
After the 2020 war, during border demarcation, when an Azerbaijani commander showed disrespect to our soldier, Maloyan publicly beat the Azerbaijani commander, for which he was dismissed from the army by the Armenian military leadership.
Today, he was detained for his desire to live in a strong Armenia. I am proud that such men are by our side, and we will be by theirs," Karapetyan wrote, accompanying his post with a photo of the high-ranking Armenian military officer.
Earlier, Armenian media reported that Maloyan's home had been searched this morning, after which he was detained. The official grounds for his detention have not yet been disclosed.
