ArmInfo. The current pro-Turkish regime in Armenia, having exhausted its civilized means of struggle, has resorted to mass repressions against national figures. This was reported by Avetik Chalabyan, coordinator of the "Hayakve" movement, from the penitentiary institution.
According to him, fabricated cases have been brought against hundreds of people under the most ridiculous pretexts. "I, too, did not escape this wave of repression, but together with many of my fellow fighters, I will steadfastly bear the burden placed upon me until justice prevails in our country and final liberation from the pro-Turkish tyranny is achieved. I wish all our supporters strength, energy, and a fearless spirit of struggle until final victory," noted Avetik Chalabyan.
Chalabyan's lawyer, Varazdat Harutyan, previously reported that the court had ordered Avetik Chalabyan's pretrial detention for two months. He will be held in the Armavir penitentiary institution. Visits are closed to everyone except lawyers. According to him, the submitted petition, with all its justifications, was insufficient to warrant pretrial detention, or any other pretrial detention measure. According to the Investigative Committee, in May 2026, Chalabyan traveled to and met with officials of another state, during which, through persuasion, as well as through his interest in ensuring the victory of their preferred political force, he persuaded them to use their official powers, authority, and the influence they owed to them, to obstruct the free exercise of the electoral rights of citizens of the Republic of Armenia who had the right to vote in the parliamentary elections held in the Republic of Armenia on June 7, 2026.
