This was reported by the press service of the Armenian Embassy in France.
The Armenian Ambassador praised the French Senate's continued support for Armenia and the Armenian people, including the development of the strategic partnership between Yerevan and Paris.
Khachatryan then discussed the parliamentary elections held in the country on June 7 and their results, as well as the post-election processes and the findings of international observers. He spoke about the 8th European Political Community Summit held in Armenia in May and the inaugural Armenia-EU Summit. He also highlighted French President Emmanuel Macron's state visit to Armenia from May 3-5.
Khachatryan emphasized the importance of the signing of the Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between Armenia and France during the visit, which creates new opportunities for expanding cooperation in a number of important areas. During the meeting, the Armenian diplomat presented Armenia's efforts to institutionalize the peace established in the South Caucasus and highlighted developments in the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project.
Khachatryan drew the senators' attention to the situation resulting from economic sanctions against products of Armenian origin, emphasizing the importance of support in this regard from both the EU and France.
Devinaz and members of the France-Armenia Senate Friendship Group reaffirmed the commitment of the French legislature and the friendship group to continued support for the peace agenda in the region, processes aimed at strengthening democracy in Armenia, and the strengthening and expansion of the bilateral partnership between Armenia and France.
As a reminder, regular parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7, 2026. Voter turnout was 58.97%. According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission of Armenia, based on the vote count from all 2,005 polling stations, Nikol Pashinyan's ruling Civil Contract party, Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia bloc, and second president Robert Kocharyan's Armenia bloc are in parliament. The remaining candidates scored below the required threshold of 4% for parties and 8-10% for blocs.
From early morning on election day, observers and journalists reported numerous violations in the organization of the vote by the ruling party. Thus, Pashinyan's party has the opportunity to single-handedly form the country's government by securing a majority of seats in the Armenian parliament. He solemnly announced this late at night, when data from only about 10% of polling stations had been processed.
