ArmInfo."The Interstate Educational Organization of Higher Education, the Russian- Armenian University, is the new official name of RAU, the press service of the higher education institution reports.
The change in the university's full official name is the result of the signing of the new Charter of the interstate educational organization. "The signing of the new Charter marked an important stage in the university's development and the formation of a relevant regulatory framework for its activities. The document was signed by Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Artur Martirosyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia. The Charter defines the legal status, governance system, and fundamental principles of the Russian-Armenian University as an interstate educational institution," the statement reads. It is noted that the name change reflects the special interstate status of the university, established and operating within the framework of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia. The new name more fully emphasizes the legal nature of the university, its mission, and its role in developing a unified educational and scientific space between the two countries.
The new Charter will complete the process of updating the university's regulatory framework and create additional opportunities for its further development, including strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and Armenia.
At the same time, the university maintains its historical continuity, academic traditions, educational programs, international partnerships, and strategic areas of activity.
As a reminder, the Russian-Armenian University (RAU) in Yerevan was established in 1997. On August 29, 1997, an intergovernmental agreement on the terms of the university's establishment was signed in Moscow. On November 28, 1997, the official Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Armenia on the opening of the university in Yerevan was adopted.
