ArmInfo. Co-founder of the "Country for Life" party, Mesrop Arakelyan, believes that no one has the right to restrict the participation of Armenian citizens in electoral processes.
On his Facebook page, the politician noted that, on the instructions of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, deputies from the "Civil Contract" party They initiated amendments to the Electoral Code, according to which citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have actually resided in Armenia for 183 or more days during the previous 365 days will be able to participate in elections to the National Assembly and referendums.
"You turn to Article 48 of the Constitution, Part 1 of which clearly states: 'Citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have reached the age of eighteen on the day of elections to the National Assembly or a referendum have the right to vote and participate in referendums.' That is, the right to participate in elections cannot be limited in any way, and such an initiative is unconstitutional. As the classic said: 'Leave it all behind and get to work,'" the politician wrote.
