ArmInfo.Gagik Tsarukyan's Prosperous Armenia Party calls on its supporters to come to the Central Election Commission of Armenia to defend their right to freedom of expression.
"Dear compatriots, today at 1:00 PM we call on all our concerned citizens, supporters of the Prosperous Armenia Party, to gather at the Central Election Commission to raise their fair voices of protest against the injustice and permissiveness that are taking place. Our citizens are being deprived of their right to freedom of expression, and this theft of votes must not go unpunished," wrote Prosperous Armenia Party candidate Hrachya Rostomyan on her Facebook page.
Later, PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan himself issued a statement, declaring his intention to pursue justice through all legal means to protect the interests of voters and ensure fairness.
"We engaged in an honest political struggle, but all possible illegal actions have been and continue to be taken against us. I want to assure you that we will continue to defend your vote of confidence by all legal means. This is no longer just a problem for the Prosperous Armenia Party; it is a problem for all post- election events in Armenia, and for all of us. Our team will be actively working today and in the coming days, collaborating with all our opposition partners.
I express my gratitude to all political forces, public figures, and media outlets who have expressed their support since last night. The Prosperous Armenia Party is beginning a series of steps aimed at protecting justice and the interests of voters, as well as countering the government's illegal actions. Our legal teams are working on all possible appeals and lawsuits. We are beginning political consultations with political forces to develop a joint program and steps," Tsarukyan stated. As ArmInfo's correspondent reports from the scene, following this call from the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), special units of the Armenian police were deployed to the Armenian Central Election Commission (CEC) building.
The CEC had previously announced the annulment of votes at two polling stations. This, in turn, once again called into question the possibility of Tsarukyan's party entering parliament. Experts have already called these CEC actions illegal.
